Fatal Construction Accident West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – A construction worker died in a crane accident Tuesday afternoon in West Hollywood, California, at a construction site near La Cienega Boulevard.

The crane pinned the victim against a trailer, resulting in the crane crushing the victim. An ambulance rushed the worker to the nearest hospital for treatment. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital, according Lt. Vance Duffy.

The fatal accident occurred near the corner of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevards reported a Los Angeles County Fire Department supervisor. Someone reported the incident around 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

The construction site is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the tragic crane accident. The Division of Occupational Safety and Health Officials responded to the accident and started its investigation.

Authorities closed La Cienega Boulevard to traffic because of construction activities, according to the Sheriff’s Department. As of Tuesday evening, the boulevard remains closed while Cal/OSHA completes its investigation. There is no additional information when La Cienega Boulevard will re-open.
