A worker was crushed to death Thursday at a downtown West Hollywood Construction site, according to a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy.
Around 4:00 p.m. the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Aneles Fire Department responded to the intersection of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevards.
Emergency personnel found the worker pinned between a crane and a trailer. The worker was prononuced dead shortly after he was airlifted to the hospital, according to Lt. Vance Duffy.
The incident is being described as an “industrial accident.” The worker’s identity has not been released pending the notification of the next of kin, according to Duffy.
The crane fell forward on top of a small trailer nearby, according to witness reports. It is unknown if the worker was operating the crane at the time of the accident.
The los Angeles County division of Occupational Safety Hazard arrived on the scene to investigate.
Traffic around La Cienga Boulevard remained closed throuout Thursday evening. No information has been released regarding the reopening of the street.
The accident is still under investigation.
