In Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles county, California, a bicyclist was hit by a moving truck and killed. The fatal accident happened on Vallon Drive near Hawthorne Boulevard. Many said that this part of the street is quite dangerous to drivers, as well as for pedestrians.

According to a sheriff spokesman of L.A. county, the bicyclist was riding down the hill at 45 mph when the Mayflower truck was making a right-hand turn at a cross street when he hit him at 2:50 pm.

Many said that this part of the boulevard is quite difficult for drivers, and for bike riders as well, because of the steep hill. If a bicyclist was really riding 45 mph, then it was not impossible, but very difficult to stop on this part of the street.

The worse part of the accident is that the truck driver didn’t know that he hit a bicyclist and continued to drive. He was dragging a cyclist for about 200 feet until he finally stopped the truck.

Traffic wasn’t allowed on the street while the investigation was proceeding. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 29- year old Redondo Beach resident.

This is the 24th fatal bike accident in L.A. county this year so far. Most bike riders don’t feel safe, due to not enough bike- friendly roads in the city .
