In the middle of the afternoon on Saturday, April 9 a Honda Civic and a Chevy Silverado collided on State Route 12, near Rio Vista, California. When help arrived at the scene, 2 adult women were pronounced dead, as well as a teenage girl and a young child. A second child, a 3 year old boy, was found alive and taken to the hospital. The child died while in the care of the hospital.

Only 3 of the victims’ names have been released because not all of the families have been notified. So far, 21 year old, Annalicia Mona Montoya; 17 year old, Aaliyah Buenrostro, and 3 year old Adelaynna G. Ortiz have been announced.

Officers who patrol the road said that it is a busy 15 mile stretch of 2 lane road. They also mentioned that it is not uncommon to see cars passing each other. And that is what happened in this case.

Individuals who witnessed the crash stated that the Honda Civic was speeding down the road and trying to pass cars. Eventually, the driver of the Civic tried to make a pass when there was not enough room. She swerved to try and miss oncoming traffic, but was hit passenger side by the Silverado.
