Tracy, California is a growing community in San Juaquin County, which started out a railroad town, flourished in agricultural and has seen recent growth as an alternative to the expense and commotion of living in the Bay Area. Early in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 22 in Tracy, CA a two-car crash caused westbound 11th Street to be closed for several hours. One eastbound lane of 11th Street was also closed while police investigated the collision. Nearby I-205 was affected by slowed traffic approaching the 11th Street Exit.
Reports indicate that the driver of a Chevrolet truck was apparently under the influence of alcohol as he sped up through the intersection and ran a red light. The other vehicle involved was a Nissan Leaf that appeared to approach the intersection simultaneously with the truck and knocked the backend of that vehicle spinning down the road.
Fortunately no one in the Nissan was hurt and only one passenger in the truck was taken to a local hospital for examination of a head injury. The injury was not considered to be life-threatening. The driver of the truck was arrested at the scene for causing an injury and DUI. He was booked, then released on bail and expected to be arraigned the following Monday. There were no casualties as a result of this auto accident, however, debris from the truck was spread along 11th Street and there was considerable damage to both vehicles involved.
