Accident on Highway 101 Leaves One Dead, Three others injured

December 16, 2016 (Paso Robles, Calif) –

A 22-year-old Paso Robles woman is dead following a late-night head-on collision.

Lindsay Matzie was driving a Toyota at approximately 3:15 a.m. on December 16, 2015 when her vehicle was stuck by a Ford travelling the wrong way. Lauren A. Aldrete was driving a Ford when she struck Matzie.

Two passengers in the backseat of Matzie’s car, Rotsen Victoriano, and Ken Cordova were seriously injured. They, along with Matzie, were extracted by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. Aldrete was taken to a nearby hospital. She was then airlifted to Fresno’s Community Regional Medical Center.

Matzie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aldrete was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police later released images of a man that they believed could shed some light on how the accident occurred. The still images were lifted from security footage of a Taco Bell store. Authorities sought the assistance of the public, hoping to identify the man. It remained unclear what information police believed the unknown man could provide.
