NATIONAL CITY, California (July 26, 2016) – A 24-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a car in National City, according to the authorities.
The accident occurred took about 10 PM on Sunday night.
The pedestrian was struck by a Honda Civic while trying to cross a busy stretch of Sweetwater Road at Fairlomas Road, according to National City police.
The report indicates that the driver remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with the police. The woman was crossing the road in a dark corner and was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Police believe that speed, drugs, and alcohol did not contribute to the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
