A fiery auto crash that closed Highway 8 Eastbound occurred last Sunday at around 5:00 a.m. A BMW flipped several times on the highway, catching fire and ejecting the driver. The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead on the scene, while another car’s driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The police are investigating the crash, gathering evidence on the almost-300 yard scene. The lanes of traffic were entirely closed for about 8 hours on Sunday due to evidence gathering and clearing debris. The identity of the dead crash victim was discovered to be Ulises Plascencia-Roque. Investigators are still unaware of the reasons for the crash so early on Sunday morning. They are also not sure whether the car started flipping after hitting the Ford pickup or when it hit the center divider.
The details of the crash will be made clear in the next few weeks while police gather evidence, interview family members and discover the real reasons behind this crash. At this point, police have had little time to discover the true reasons behind such an accident and have a long way to go to piece together what occurred Sunday morning. The discovery of the driver is the first step of many in order to understand the true nature of this situation and gain some closure for family members.
