MISSION BEACH, California (Aug. 21, 2016) – A suspected DUI solo accident left one person dead and another injured Sunday night on West Mission Bay Drive in Mission Beach, San Diego County, according to a San Diego Police Department report.
The deadly accident occurred about 7:12 PM. According to the report, the accident took place when the driver of a 1988 Dodge struck a curb and a traffic pole post while trying to negotiate a left-hand turn onto the northbound Gleason Road.
The driver, a 56-year-old man, was killed in the deadly crash. The report indicates that a female passenger who was in the vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash. Responding paramedics treated the female at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the San Diego Police Department. Initial investigation indicates that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
