Driver of Rig Dies
The Turlockjournal reported the story of the rig accident that had occurred on May 5, 2016. A 65 year old driver of the semi truck was killed. This accident happened on Thursday morning. Sukhmander Gill has been identified as the driver of the semi truck. He was driving on highway 99 when his tractor trailer had veered off of the highway. The rig then crashed into a carport. The Turlock apartment complex was narrowly missed. This was the Avena Bella apartments. Three parked vehicles were hit in this collision. Another man at this collision did suffer minor injuries.
Victim Taken to Emanuel Medical Center
The injured man has been identified as Jose Valencia. He is a 26 year old from Turlock. He was in the Toyota Tacoma and had sustained minor injuries from this accident. He was taken to Emanuel Medical Center. He received treatment for his injuries.
Gil Deceased at the Scene
Gil was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of this accident is unknown. It is not currently known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. The driver may have been distracted.
Damage Caused
This accident had caused damage to a fourth vehicle. There was also damage to one of the apartments. A broken window was the result. Sand had been used to absorb the diesel fuel that had leaked out after the crash. American Response and the Turlock Fire Department were at the scene to assist.
