2 Teen Boys Killed and 1 Person Injured in Merced Crash on Interstate 5 near State Route 165

Two Teens Killed, One Injured in Head-On Collision on Interstate 5 near State Route 165 in Merced
Merced, California (March 27, 2018) – Two teenage boys were killed, and another was injured Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Merced, according to California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at around 11:50 a.m. Sunday, March 25 on Interstate 5 one mile north of State Route 165.
According to the CHP, 21-year-old Sabrina Distura from San Jose was operating a 2015 Honda northbound on Interstate 5 when she drifted across the center divider lines and collided head-on with a Nissan.
The 17-year-old driver of the Nissan was declared dead at the site of the incident. A 16-year-old passenger was flown to Doctors Hospital in Modesto, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
A third 16-year-old passenger in the Nissan was taken to Memorial North Hospital with major injuries.
Distura was taken to Los Banos Memorial Hospital where she was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
An investigation into the fatal crash is underway.
