BALDWIN, California (Aug. 8, 2016) – A male pedestrian died Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Slauson Avenue in Baldwin, according to a CHP report.
The deadly accident occurred early Sunday morning at about 5:40 a.m. just west of La Tijera BLVD. According to the report, the man was crossing in an unmarked part of the road when he was hit by a vehicle that was headed west on La Tijera. The involved vehicle was described as 2011 Toyota Corolla.
The man was seriously injured in the crash. He was lying face down in the number 2 lane of the Slauson Avenue. Paramedics arrived and transported the man to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for treatment where he died of his injuries 6 hours later.
Hermelino Barrios, 58, was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver remained at the scene after the accident and was interviewed by the police.
