1 Dies in Coalinga Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

Coalinga, California (June 7, 2023) – A male pedestrian, 74, from Myrtle Point, Oregon, was fatally hit by a car Monday night in Coalinga.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at Interstate 5 Monday, June 5.

Per the report, a man was standing outside his disabled car on the No. 2 lane of the southbound 5 Freeway when a 2015 Peterbilt struck him.

The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The big rig driver, 31-year-old Fernando Flores-Roman, of Bakersfield, sustained no injuries. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Due to limited available information about the incident, the investigation is in progress.
