ESCONDIDO, California (Aug. 2, 2016) – A pedestrian is nursing a serious foot injury after being hit by a vehicle along Valley Center Road, according to Escondido police report.
At about 5:50 AM this morning, the police received a 911 call which reported that a man in dark clothes was running in the middle of the roadway. Police officers responded and tried to reach the man. Unfortunately, the man was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver before the police could reach him. He was found on the road just north of Lake Wohlford Road with a serious foot injury.
The man, who is suspected to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, was transported to a trauma center.
No more information on his condition was provided.
The suspected hit-and-run driver is believed to have been driving a yellow Saturn as bits of the vehicle parts were left behind on the roadway.
