IRVINE, CA: Fiery Multivehicle Collision on I-5 Freeway at Jamboree Road Leaves one Dead

IRVINE, California (Aug. 9, 2016) – A deadly fiery accident was reported Monday night on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Jamboree Road in Irvine, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The fiery accident took place shortly after 10:30 p.m. last night between a white 1994 Dodge van and two or three vehicles. As per the report, two vehicles caught fire after the collision. A driver was trapped in one of the burning vehicles and suffered burn injuries. The driver was rescued from the burning car. The flames were put out by firefighters who responded to the scene.

The report indicated that the first collision triggered a chain of reaction and that at least 4 motorists were involved in the deadly crash.

One person, a driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others, one of whom suffered burn injuries, were in transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the crash to determine the cause and liability.
