Mendota, CA: Man Killed, 2 Injured in DUI Hit-and-run Crash Highway 180, Driver Arrested
Mendota, California (December 6, 2016) – A man was killed Sunday night following a suspected DUI collision, according to an article by The Fresno Bee.
The accident took place at about 8:30 p.m. when a DUI driver of a 2003 Nissan Mitsubishi veered into the opposite traffic lane on Highway 180 and San Benito Avenue and collided head-on with a 2010 Nissan.
According to the article, a 60-year-old male passenger in the Nissan was fatally injured in the crash while two other parties were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Reportedly, the suspect fled the accident scene after the crash but was later apprehended.
Police determined that the suspect, 34-year-old Narciso Lopez Mejia, had been driving under the influence.
Mejia was not injured in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
