Modesto, California (November 7, 2016) – A 44-year-old male pedestrian was killed on November 2 on Highway 99, just north of Hatch Road, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s office.

The accident took place at about 10 p.m. the night of November 2.

Reportedly, 20-year-old Merissah Leahn Lopez of Ceres was driving a Cadillac at about 70 mph in the fast lane of the highway, at the same time, Channing Green, 44, attempted to cross the street from the shoulder to the Center media.  The driver braked and swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the pedestrian but, unfortunately, the left front of Lopez’s Cadillac struck him.

The impact of the crash threw the victim, sending him to the center divider.  Green was later pronounced dead the same night.

Channing was a transient who lived in the South Ninth Street area of Modesto.
