Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Car at the Intersection of 5 Freeway and La Jolla Village Drive
San Diego, CA: Fatal Pedestrian Crash at 5 Freeway and La Jolla Village Drive
San Diego, California (October 24, 2016) – The police are investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in San Diego.
The accident took place at the intersection of Interstate 5 Freeway and La Jolla Village Drive on-ramp. The California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a pedestrian that was lying down on the road shortly after 8 a.m. this morning.
As per a police report, the victim was struck by a gray Mercedes sedan.
Reportedly, the pedestrian stepped right in front of the car that was moving onto or off the freeway leading to the crash.
A SigAlert was issued closing all the westbound lanes of the freeway for about an hour to allow the police to gather evidence about the crash.
The accident is under investigation by the police to determine the cause and liability.
