Woman Killed in Bakersfield Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Rowlee Road
Bakersfield, California (June 22, 2023) – Authorities are investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred Wednesday morning in Bakersfield.
A woman was fatally injured in a crash on Interstate 5 near Rowlee Road at around 10:30 a.m. June 21, according to a local source.
The 27-year-old woman was driving a 2019 Volkswagen SUV in the number one lane when she veered into the number 2 lane and slammed into a semi-truck’s rear.
The SUV rolled over and caught fire after the crash, igniting fireworks in the trunk.
Authorities say a 21-year-old female passenger in the SUV was declared dead at the crash site.
The driver of the semi-truck sustains no injuries.
