Barbara Barry Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision on U.S 41 East at Lakewood Boulevard in Collier County

Collier County, Florida (March 23, 2018) – The woman who died Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Collier County has been identified as Barbara Barry, 85, of  Massachusetts, according to authorities.

The fatal crash took place at about 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 on U.S 41 East near the intersection with Lakewood Boulevard.

According to the authorities, Barry was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Focus heading eastbound on U.S 41 East while a Routan minivan was heading westbound on U.S 41 East. The Focus made a U-turn to go westbound and pulled out in front of a Routan minivan. The minivan was in the middle lane and was unable to stop in time and crashed into the Focus.

Authorities stated that Barry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Barry was transported by air ambulance to Lee Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

An investigation to the crash is underway.
