Man Dies in Jacksonville Bicycle Collision on Beach Boulevard at Carmichael Avenue
Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville
Jacksonville, Florida (April 21, 2018) – A bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle in Jacksonville on Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The collision took place at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, April 19 on Beach Boulevard at Carmichael Avenue.
Vehicles were stopped for a stop sign on eastbound Beach Boulevard when William Leroy Weeks drove his bicycle across.
A Honda Civic failed to stop and crashed into the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe, pushing it into Weeks, police said.
Weeks was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Two elderly occupants of the Civic were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said drugs and alcohol were unlikely factors in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
