Woman Killed, Hubert Anders Injured in Motorcycle Collision on E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Parsons Avenue in Seffner
Seffner, Florida (March 23, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed, and one person was injured Thursday afternoon in a crash with two vehicles in Seffner, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The deadly incident occurred at around 2:18 p.m. Thursday, March 22 on E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Parsons Avenue.
According to FHP, 81-year old Hubert Anders from Dover was operating a Ford F-250 pick-up in the inside eastbound lane of E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. At the same time, a 50-year-old Plant City woman was riding 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. For unknown reasons, the Ford drifted over the center divider, into the path of the motorcycle and eventually collided with the bike.
The Ford continued, then drove into two parking lots and blew a business sign and slammed into a concrete pole before stopping.
The motorcycle was also hit by a second vehicle that was heading westbound on E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The 50-year-old Plant City woman was transported to Tampa General Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
She was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, police said.
Anders sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
The cause of the deadly crash is under investigation.
