Clarkston Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision on U.S. Highway 95 at State Route 128 in Lewiston

Lewiston, Idaho (April 2, 2018) – A 19-year-old Clarkston man was killed Saturday morning in a two-car collision in Lewiston, according to a Lewiston Police Department report.

The fatal crash happened at around 6:22 a.m. Saturday, March 31 on U.S. Highway 95 at the intersection of State Route 128.

Police said  31-year-old Pompeyo Salazar-Cabrera was operating a 2015 tractor-trailer southbound on U.S. Highway 95 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. The tractor-trailer slammed into a 1999 Toyota Camry, driven by 19-year-old Hayden Garrett.

The impact sent both vehicles into the parking lot area of the Hillary Motel.

Garrett was declared dead at the scene.

Salazar-Cabrera was not injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
