One Killed, Four Injured in 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 20 near Rockwell in Calhoun County

Calhoun County, Iowa (March 30, 2018) – One person was killed, and four others were injured on Wednesday night in a head-on crash in Calhoun County, according to Iowa State Patrol.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 on Highway 20 about four miles west of Rockwell city.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Dodge Caravan was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a GMC Yukon that was traveling westbound.

Both vehicles came to rest in the median.

The 37-year-old driver of the Caravan was declared dead at the scene. The driver’s name was released.

Three occupants of the Yukon were taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center. The fourth occupant was transported by air ambulance to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines.

No further information regarding the crash was immediately provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
