Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle on U.S. 61 at North Elm Street in Metairie

Metairie, Louisiana (April 3, 2018) – A 59-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday night in Metairie, according to Louisiana State Police.

The fatal crash took place at around 8:25 p.m. Sunday, April 1 on U.S. 61 at North Elm Street.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Nathaniel Bailey was walking southbound on U.S. 61 when he was struck by a dark-colored Nissan Maxima, driven by 26-year-old Kiedra Banks of Kenner.

Banks fled the scene on Earhart Expressway into Orleans Parish.

Bailey was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
