2 Killed in Motorcycle Collision on La. 74 near U.S. 61 in Gonzales
Gonzales, Louisiana (March 27, 2018) – A motorcyclist and his female passenger were killed Monday morning in a head-on collision in Gonzales, according to State Police.
The deadly collision occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. Monday, March 26 on La. 74, just west of U.S. 61.
According to the State Police, 42-year-old Robert Stafford was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on La. 74 when a 14-year-old was operating a 2017 Nissan Versa westbound on La. 74.
For unknown reasons, the teen drifted into the eastbound lane and struck the motorcycle head-on.
The teenager’s vehicle continued traveling westbound and to stop after striking a utility pole.
Stafford and his passenger, 45-year-old Dusty Duet from Prairieville were declared dead at the scene.
The teenager was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
No further information regarding the crash was available.
The crash remains under investigation.
