Fair Oaks, CA: 2 Killed In fiery DUI Crash On Madison Avenue
Fair Oaks, California (September 26, 2016) – Two people believed to be in their 20s were killed early Monday morning after their motorcycle was struck by a wrong way driver in Fair Oaks, according to KCRA News.
The accident took place just after 3 a.m. this morning when a driver of a silver Hyundai struck two a motorcycle that was carrying a man and a woman on Madison Avenue near Lincoln Oaks Drive.
According to the article, Brandon Fernandez, 28, was behind the will the silver Hyundai and was traveling in the wrong direction at the time of the accident.
The vehicle and the motorcycle burst into flames after the accident. Fernandez was able to get out of the vehicle and walked to a sidewalk after the crash.
The two motorcycle occupants suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The names of the two victims have not been made public pending notification of the next of kin.
Fernandez remained at the scene of the accident and was arrested. He faces felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony manslaughter.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
