Man Killed in Roosevelt County Crash on U.S. 70
Portales Man Killed, 1 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on U.S. 70 in Roosevelt County
Roosevelt County, New Mexico (April 3, 2018) – A Portales man was killed Saturday morning in a two-car accident in Roosevelt County, according to New Mexico State Police.
The deadly crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31 on U.S 70 at Mile er 430.
Police said 31-year-old Ricardo Navarrete was driving a Dodge pickup southbound at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a southbound Dodge Nissan, driven by Jose Saldana-Pinales, 41.
The impact sent the Nissan off the side of the roadway where it overturned.
Saldana-Pinales was pronounced dead at the scene.
Navarrete sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
The New Mexico State Police are investigating the crash.
