Jerry Holmes ID’d as Man Killed in Rome Wrong-Way Driver Crash on Route 49

Jerry Holmes Killed in Head-on Crash on Route 49 in Rome
Rome, New York (March 25, 2018) – The man who was killed Sunday morning in a head-on collision in Rome has been identified as Jerry Holmes, 34, of Canastota, according to authorities.
The fatal crash occurred at around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, March 25 along Route 49.
According to the authorities, Holmes was operating a 2014 white Nissan Versa westbound in the eastbound lane along State Route 49 when two women were riding in a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia. The driver of the Cascadia attempted to swerve to avoid the Nissan but crashed head-on.
Holmes was declared dead at the scene.
The other two women were not injured.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
