Springfield, Ohio (April 1, 2018) – One person was killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision that sent four others to a hospital on Sunday afternoon in Springfield.

According to Springfield Police, the crash happened at around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of West Jefferson and South Shaffer streets.

Police said a red Honda was traveling on South Shaffer Street when it was struck by a gray Jaguar traveling at a high rate of speed on Jefferson Street.

One occupant of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other occupants of the Honda were transported by helicopters to hospitals with serious injuries.

Two people who were riding in the Jaguar reportedly fled the scene but were later caught and taken into custody.

Details on the identities of the parties involved were not immediately released.

The Springfield Police Department is investigating the crash.
