a big semi-truck and a small vehicle collided on highway 70 early Monday morning. The smaller vehicle collided with the semi-truck just South of Oroville near Ranch Road.
The road was closed from both north and south directions due to the fatal accident that took the life of the owner in the Chevrolet Cobalt.
California Highway Patrol, Al Sanders, stated that the owner of the Chevrolet Cobalt was doing speeds in excess of 55 mph, passing other vehicles on the shoulder heading southbound.
According to witnesses, the owner of the Chevrolet Cobalt rapidly approached the hill heading southbound when it suddenly came upon seeing the semi-truck in the opposite direction that was heading north and tried getting back on the road, but lost control of his vehicle and collided with the semi-truck that was headed north.
The owner of the Chevrolet Cobalt was immediately killed.
