A fatal collision between a commercial truck and a sedan on the San Diego (405) Freeway claimed the life of one man and caused all southbound lanes to be closed for almost four hours according the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Fancisco Villalobos reported that the crash occurred just south of Hawthorne Boulevard about 4:15am on the southbound 405. The commercial truck smashed into the sedan and pushed the car into a wall. The California Highway Patrol responded quickly to offer assistance and prevent additional complications.
An elderly man was killed at the scene as a result of the accident. Authorities have withheld his name in order to be able to deliver the sad news personally to his relatives.
The CHP declared a SigAlert at approximately 4:29am which effectively closed down the affected southbound lanes until the scene could be processed. Normal traffic flow was able to resume at approximately 8am.
