An Elk Grove man was killed early on Thursday morning when an out-of-control Fed Ex truck jumped the median and slammed into his vehicle.
On Thursday morning, around 6:00 a.m., Elijah Jackson, 45, of Elk Grove, was traveling northbound on I-5 in his pick-up truck when it was struck by the Fed Ex big rig. The double-trailer Fed Ex truck was traveling southbound in heavy rain when the unidentified female driver lost control, hit the center retaining wall, crossed over it, and struck Jackson’s truck, killing him.
The accident occurred on the northbound side of I-5, at Fruitridge Road and Seamas Avenue, closing all lanes of traffic. All lanes of the highway were finally reopened Thursday evening after drivers were stuck in traffic for miles most of the day.
The Fed Ex truck’s double-trailers were empty and the female driver of the truck suffered no injuries in the rainy Thursday morning accident.
