Driver fatigue has been termed as the main reason for the occurring of accidents by heavy commercial vehicles involving many truck companies.

Early on November 30th at around 5.08am near mile marker 83 in California an 18-wheeler truck overturned and subsequently crashed across all the eastbound lanes 1 to 10.

According to the police the truck driver fell asleep on the wheels and woke up when he was about to crash. He immediately tried to regain control of the truck but the luggage was so heavy that the truck lost balance and overturned.

A hummer driver who was driving on the same lane managed to veer left and avoided being crashed by it. Unfortunately it could not avoid the whole load as it found itself in the underside of the lorry but miraculously the driver escaped with minor injuries.

Another truck in the same route also managed to avoid the accident by jackknifing his hauler. Fortunately all the drivers of the trucks and the vehicle involved managed to escape with minor injuries but the consequences and results could have been worse.
