Kenneth Atkins Among 2 Killed in Fresno County Car Crash on Highway 41 near Elkhorn Avenue
Fresno County, California (September 18, 2020) – Kenneth Atkins, 40, of Madera, has been identified as one of the two victims who were killed in a head-on car crash on Wednesday morning in Fresno County, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
At about 6:15 a.m., on September 16, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly accident on Highway 41 near Elkhorn Avenue.
The CHP said a Nissan pickup truck was driving northbound in the highway’s southbound lanes when it sideswiped an SUV and collided head-on with a Hyundai, driven by Atkins.
Following the collision, the pickup truck reportedly caught fire, the officials said.
Both Atkins and the driver of the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
Traffic on Highway 41 was stopped in both directions for an unknown period due to the collision.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
