In a recent tragic news development, an 18 year old man was killed in an automobile accident where the Federal Express delivery truck that he was driving was hit by an 18 wheeler in Fresno County. The accident was witnessed by several passersby and described as a terrible scene. Witnesses were in full expectation, after watching the accident unfold, of receiving news that the incident resulted in several fatalities. As fate would have it, there was only one fatality. The four other individuals who were involved in the head on collision were rushed to the hospital with injuries that ranged from minor to life threatening.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours when both the Federal Express truck and the 18 wheeler truck were traveling for business purposes. The direct cause of the collision has not yet been confirmed by authorities, but witnesses have reported that the driver of the pick up truck ran a red light and was then struck by the oncoming large truck. After the incident, the police were immediately called and medical officials were rushed to the scene of the accident. The driver of the pick up truck was pronounced dead on the scene, while his passenger faced life threatening injuries and had to be air lifted to the nearest medical facility.

The passengers in the 18 wheeler were treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries and are expected to recover swiftly. The experience of being involved in a head on collision with another vehicle whose passenger was killed in the accident, however, is not likely to be a memory that any of the passengers will recover from. Memorial services for the deceased are being set up by his family who are currently facing a tremendous and unexpected loss and are asking for consideration.
