A man died when his pickup truck collided with a big rig truck near Petaluma, California. His name was Jared Scott Marengo and he was only 23 years old. The crash occurred near a three way intersection at 7 AM.
The police reported that the pickup truck shifted onto the wrong side of the road at precisely the wrong second and crashed into the big rig. With both vehicles traveling at full speed, and the whole thing happening so unexpectedly, there was little time for reactionary measures to be taken.
When the ambulance arrived, Marengo was in critical condition and he was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he died while in transit to the hospital. However, his passenger suffered a few injuries, but it is reported that he will survive.
Marengo was driving a commercial vehicle. His truck associated with a traffic management and safety company (who did not offer any comment about the incident).
The driver of the big rig did not suffer any injuries. Further, while the big rig was loaded with fragile material, nothing was damaged.
