Sacramento County, NC : A Kern County truck driver died in big-rig crash on Interstate 5 by Walnut Grove on January 26, 2016.
According to a police officer that responded to the call of a crash, the collision involved two big rigs that were traveling southbound on Interstate 5 coming up on Walnut Grove. The collision resulted in one truck driver getting killed, according to the CHiPs – California Highway Patrol. The crash of the two trucks occurred at noon.
One driver was a 77-year-old man from Kern County, he was driving the 2009 Freightliner southbound in the No. 2 lane. To his left was the 2010 Freightliner that was driven by 60-year-old Ray Alan Butler of Creswell, Oregon.
The 2009 Freightliner struck the other big-rig, then traveled off road and suddenly overturned. When the truck flipped over, it killed the driver and caused minor injuries to his passenger.
The driver of the other big-rig was not injured, and pulled his truck to the right shoulder nearing the Walnut Grove Road off ramp.
According to the police on the scene that were investigating the accident, drugs or alcohol were not considered to be factors in the deadly crash. The California Highway Patrol went on to say that the Cosumnes Fire Department were also on the scene of the accident to help the Walnut GroveFire Department.
