Lakeside, California (July 26, 2016) – An 83-year-old woman was killed Monday afternoon after she was struck by a box truck on the Interstate 8 Freeway, according to a CHP report.
The deadly crash took place about 3:48 PM Monday afternoon when Maria Elena Dowden was struck by a box truck while she was crossing the westbound lanes of the I-8 Freeway, just east of Lake Jennings.
Dowden was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness called 911 to report the accident.
Police are investigating the crash to determine liability.
