1 Killed in Visalia Car Accident on Highway 43

Visalia, California (July 1, 2023) – One person was killed Friday afternoon after a vehicle collision in Visalia.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 43 at Avenue 56.

In unclear circumstances, an eastbound Ford Fusion on Avenue 56 collided with a northbound red Toyota Tacoma at the intersection.

The driver of the Ford, a 25-year-old Fresno man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the collision.

 The driver of the Toyota, Steven Edward Nelson, 33, of Bakersfield, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

More details about the incident were not provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
