Man Killed in Two-Car Crash on U.S. 167 in Bernice

Bernice, Louisiana (April 23, 2018) – A Spearsville man was killed in a two-car accident in Bernice Saturday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.

The crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21 on U.S. 167, just south of Bernice.

Authorities said a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by 47-year-old Kerry McNeal from Spearsville, Louisiana was also heading northbound in the right lane while a 2015 Mack 18-wheeler operated by Tarrance Thompson, 46, of Jonesboro, Louisiana was going northbound in the right lane.

For unknown reasons, the pickup rear-ended the 18-wheeler at the high rate of speed.

McNeal died at the scene. Thompson was not hurt in the crash.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
